Past president of the American Psychological Association Dr. Nicolas Cummings reveals in a You Tube video that unbiased open research on homosexuality was never done after it was reclassified in the 1970s. Peter Sprigg, board member of Parents and Friends of Ex-gays and Gays (PFOX), took the Washington Post to task for its statement “mainstream medical and mental-health associations say that homosexuality is innate.” The Washington Post statement was in an article about Montgomery County Public Schools Superintendent Joshua Starr rejection of a PFOX flier. Sprigg quoted the American Psychological Association (a pro-gay organization): “Although much research has examined the possible genetic, hormonal, developmental, social, and cultural influences on sexual orientation, no findings have emerged that permit scientists to conclude that sexual orientation is determined by any particular factor or factors.” Read the rest of this entry →

Peter Sprigg, board member of Parents and Friends of Ex-gays and Gays (PFOX), gave PFOX’s side of their dispute with Montgomery County Public Schools Superintendent Joshua Starr in a commentary in the Washington Times.
Here is an excerpt from Sprigg’s commentary: – “The message that “change is possible” with respect to sexual orientation means just that. It does not mean change is mandatory; it does not mean change is easy; it does not even mean change is desirable for those who do not desire it. It also does not mean that people “choose” to experience same-sex attractions. However, people do have a choice what to do with those attractions – whether to engage in homosexual conduct, whether to self-identify as “gay” and, yes, whether to seek help to change those attractions.” Read the rest of this entry →

Here are a couple excerpts from Dr. Stanton Jones’ scholarly article on the knowledge base of homosexuality (published in the February issue of First Things):
“I conclude that homosexual orientation is, contrary to the supposed consensus, sometimes mutable. ‘Homosexuality’ is a multifaceted phenomenon; there are likely many homosexualities, with some perhaps more malleable than others. Not all interventions are the same; not all practitioners are equally skilled. Perhaps most important, those seeking change vary considerably in their intensity of motivation, in their resourcefulness, and in the context in which they try to change. Most of those seeking change and most of those who actually attain some level of change are highly religiously committed, and these individuals who believe in a God who intervenes in their lives are embedded in communities of care and are motivated by their core understanding of who they are as a person before God. It is a wonder that anyone without such resources successfully obtains sexual-orientation change.” Read the rest of this entry →

Psychotherapist Lesley Pilkington has had her license suspended for trying to help a man who came to her saying that he had unwanted homosexuality. In truth the man was a gay activist reporter seeking to discredit her psychotherapeutic attempt to help him. A short video of her articulating her conviction to her biblical beliefs can be found at http://www.4thought.tv/themes/do-we-still-need-religion–2/935?autoplay=true.

Parents and Friends of Ex-gays and Gays (PFOX) News Release: – “February 9, 2012 – In response to media reports that Montgomery County (Maryland) Superintendent Joshua Starr called ex-gay flyers distributed to high school students as “reprehensible and deplorable” with a “really, really disgusting message,” Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays and Gays (PFOX) is calling for the Board of Education to reprimand Starr. PFOX’s flyers provided information to students with unwanted same-sex attractions, discouraged name calling and labeling, and urged tolerance for former homosexuals.” Read the rest of this entry →

Excerpts from The Christian Post article: – “The president of the world’s largest ministry to homosexuals and their families recently attempted to clarify controversial statements he made at a Gay Christian Network conference in Orlando, Fla., including one in which he described gays at the conference as ‘brothers and sisters in Christ.’”
“‘I believe that if a person has accepted the free gift of salvation, then the gift is irrevocable,’ Exodus International President Alan Chambers explained. ‘So, when someone says that they are a born again believer, I address them as a brother or sister in Christ.” Chambers published his comments on his ministry’s website last Friday, weeks after returning from the annual GCN conference. Here is an excerpt from Alan Chambers‘ blog through Exodus International: – “In January I had the privilege of participating on a panel at the Gay Christian Network Conference here in Orlando. Leslie and another couple from Exodus sat in the audience of 450 people listening as I was grilled for about 3 hours. Some comments I made there have ratcheted up the discussion on multiple levels. All sides are clamoring for a way to associate, disassociate, credit or discredit what I said, what I believe and the organization that I lead. One thing is certain, more conversation is needed and I am excited about being a part of it over the long haul.”
“The two controversial comments I made are:
1. I called a group of people who identify as gay or lesbian (some active, some celibate) brothers and sisters in Christ.
2. 99.9% of the people I know have not changed their sexual orientation.” Read the rest of this entry →
