June 27, 2013 By: Tom Coy Category: Gay Politics, Sexual Orientation Change Efforts

April 22, 2013

Excerpts from Doyle’s article “Pedophile Jerry Sandusky’s Dream of Californication” on the Christian Post website: … “[9th Circuit Court of Appeals Judge in San Francisco] Kozinsky went on to say: ‘We don’t have any compelling evidence’ that SOCE therapy should be banned. ‘Point me to the one piece of evidence we can call compelling saying that this causes harm.’”

“The truth is, there is no scientific evidence that SOCE causes harm or is ineffective for minors. While major mental health organizations have made this claim, they have no data to back it up. Instead, some have cited research that shows homosexual youth are more likely to experience poorer outcomes when rejected by their families.” (more…)

Randy Thomas discusses John Paulk’s life

June 27, 2013 By: Tom Coy Category: Ex-gay News

April 22, 2013

The following excerpts are from Randy Thomas’s article “John Paulk’s Shocking Secret” taken from Randy Thomas’s website: … “Then, last week, an article was published by PQ (Proud Queer) basically saying that John is on his way “back” to the gay community and questioning whether they should accept him. Some, a few … not all, activists act like the religious legalists they abhor by coming up with a laundry list basically stating that John can only be accepted if he does and acts exactly like they think he should. How weird is it that the church, rightfully in some cases, gets excoriated by these same folks for kicking people out into the street for not publicly espousing the right beliefs and acting the right way and then they turn around and do the same from a different set of rules?

Anyway, after reading the PQ article I messaged John a quick note once again sharing my heart for him and offering to help if I could. This resulted in a phone call and a great conversation. (more…)

PFOX recently published answers to five questions related to the ex-gay movement. The questions answered were: 1. Why should schools present ex-gay information?; 2. What are some of the discriminatory actions against former homosexuals?; 3. Why do gays hate ex-gays so much?; 4. I’m happy being gay, so why should gays change their sexual orientation?; and 5. What about gay teens and suicide that I’ve heard about?

Following is the answer to the fourth question: “Change is only for those with unwanted same-sex attractions. What makes you happy may not make someone else happy because we are all individuals. Please respect other people’s decisions for their lives. (more…)

Andrew Comisky discusses new life in Christ

June 27, 2013 By: Tom Coy Category: Religious Perspective, testimony

April 15, 2013

Excerpt from Andrew Comisky’s article “Reduced to Resurrection” published on his website: … “I will never forget that season at University when the battle raged between the empowered ‘gay self’ and the dopey (it seemed to me) Christian one. One side had to give. The former seemed more powerful—fun and sexy and hip. Hanging out with the poor who clung to Jesus? Not so cool. But real, an authentic response to the God who I honestly believed was alive and calling me into a new life. He won because He is, and He graced me with the freedom to see ‘the gay self’ as a sophisticated defense against His call to follow Him nakedly.”

“No doubt, once we are reduced to Him, we need help from His Body to live out our repentance. It will take many turnings, many reductions until we are steadily on track.” …

Daniel Mattson writes about sexual disorientation

June 27, 2013 By: Tom Coy Category: Religious Perspective

April 10, 2013

Daniel Mattson is a Catholic with unwanted same-sex attractions. Following is the concluding paragraph of his article “Homosexual Orientation, or disorientation?” published on the First Things website: … “Embracing a gay identity prevents us from knowing ourselves as we are known by God. Instead, we are kept captive by faulty categories of the human person, created in the mind of man. It is more than mere semantics. In departing from the clear teaching of the Church on our sexual identity, we do injury to our personal dignity as being male or female image-bearers of God and prevent ourselves from resolving the most fundamental question each of us strives to answer: “Who am I?” More problematically, when we defend these false descriptions of man, we go against the clear teachings of the Church and lead others to embrace one of the great confusions of our age.”
