The following excerpts are from the press release “New Groundbreaking Ex-Gay Documentary to Premiere …” on the Voice of the Voiceless website: “TULSA, OK – Sing Over Me is a new, one-¬and-¬a-¬half-¬hour documentary about award-¬winning singer and songwriter Dennis Jernigan and his painful journey and battle with same-¬sex attraction while living as a professing Christian. ‘It was a life,’ he says, ‘that was filled with shame.’ Yet, this is not a story against homosexuality. Rather, it is a story of hope, destiny and restoration.”

“To release Fall 2014, by Free Verse Films (Los Angeles, CA), the film will premiere at a special live event on Friday, Feb. 28, 7:00 p.m., at Eastwood Baptist Church; 949 S. 91 E. Ave.; Tulsa,”… (more…)

Excerpt of Christopher Doyle’s article in the Christian Post: “When I was eight years old, I was sexually abused every week for an entire year. This created a lot of sexual confusion for me. When I became a teenager, I struggled with unwanted same-sex attraction (SSA) as a result of that abuse. …”

“Today, I am a professional counselor that helps young men struggling with their own sexuality. Every week, I get calls from mothers and fathers who are concerned about their teenagers’ homosexual feelings. I have worked with many of these teens in therapy (as young as 13) to help them understand and resolve their unwanted SSA. My hope is for these young people to work through their issues now so they don’t have to deal with the pain and heartache when they are older, like I had to do.”

Looking Forward to Documentary Premiere

July 17, 2008 By: Tom Coy Category: Documentary News

I am looking forward to “Real Hope’s” premiere at the Bayou City Inspirational Film Festival in Houston. A preliminary version of the documentary was screened last October at a Christian film festival in San Francisco. It was a rewarding experience for me to hear the audience reactions throughout the docudrama and then later hear how it moved them.

After the screening a woman working as a greeter told me that as the documentary was playing several of the youth workers at the festival came out of the auditorium to encourage their fellow youth workers to go in and watch the documentary. Their message to their friends was “You’ve gotta see this!” That is pretty much my perspective on the Christian ex-gay movement. Words cannot adequately describe and explain these individuals and their mission. You gotta see it to best understand it.
