Robert Gollwitzer on what mercy does and doesn’t mean

March 21, 2014 By: Tom Coy Category: Religious Perspective

February 16, 2014

The following excerpts are from the blog “Jesus Showed Mercy!” on the Homosexuals Anonymous website: … “Yes, we need to show mercy, but that means giving people with same-sex attractions (or heterosexual couples who are about to break up) unconditional love and support IN ORDER TO WALK ON THE RIGHT PATH AGAIN! God did not tell us THOU SHALT NOT DO THIS OR THAT – UNLESS YOU HAVE AN INCLINATION FOR IT OR YOU MISS TO MEET MY STANDARD – THEN YOU JUST SETTLE FOR LESS! What kind of theology is that? Shouldn’t shepherds who are responsible for their flock do everything to get them safely back home? God never gave us a standard that we cannot fulfill and there is no temptation that is big enough that we cannot resist it. Jesus died on the Cross for that.” (more…)

February 16, 2014

The following excerpts are from the article “State Seeks Talking Points for Therapist” by Bob Unruh and published on World Net Daily: “As expected, Maryland is seeking to become the third state to impose talking points on therapists whose clients are horrified by the same-sex attractions they may experience and want help to rid themselves. State lawmakers have proposed, like in California and New Jersey, a ban on what therapists can say in such situations.”

“‘This legislation makes unfounded claims that sexual orientation change effort (SOCE) therapy is harmful and ineffective, while ignoring the reality that some minors who develop homosexual feelings have already been harmed by sexual abuse (more…)

Washington State next to attempt a ban on change therapy

March 21, 2014 By: Tom Coy Category: Gay Politics, Sexual Orientation Change Efforts

February 14, 2014

The following excerpts are from the article “House Passes Ban on Life Change Therapy 94-4” by by Joseph Backholm on the Family Policy Institute website: “Yesterday the Washington State House of Representatives delivered a blow to religious freedom when it passed HB 2451 which bans therapy for minors to help them reduce or eliminate same-sex attraction. The bill, which passed 94-4, now moves to the Senate for consideration.”

“This bill, modeled after similar bills in New Jersey and California, makes it professional misconduct for a licensed therapist to provide sexual orientation change therapy to minors even when the client requests it. Therefore, it makes it illegal for a licensed counselor to counsel in a way that is consistent with the Christian, Jewish, Muslim, or LDS understanding of sexuality…even in a church, mosque, or synagogue.” (more…)

Richard Cohen reports on his speaking engagement in Mexico

February 14, 2014

Following are excerpts from the article “Gay Activists Protest Richard Cohen’s Conference in Monterrey Mexico” on the International Healing Foundation website: “Over three hundred men and women dared to cross the picket line of gay and lesbian activists who opposed my talk this evening in Monterrey, Mexico. Before the conference began, Andreina del Villar, our IHF Mexico Acting Director, and I went outside to greet the protestors with donuts! We wanted to show them our love and support. They asked many questions, doubting our sincerity. Looking into their eyes, I could see so much unhappiness and pain. We simply said how much we loved them…although most of them were unable to receive it…but, they did enjoy our donuts:))” (more…)

PFOX responds to MD attempt to ban change therapy

March 11, 2014 By: Tom Coy Category: Gay Politics, Sexual Orientation Change Efforts

February 14, 2014

The following excerpts are from the PFOX news release “Maryland ban on heterosexual therapy:” … “House Bill 91 relies exclusively on policy statements from so-called “mainstream” mental and medical health organizations such as the American Psychological Association (APA), who formed a Task Force in 2009 made up exclusively of gay-identified and gay-affirming psychologists. ‘What the APA Task Force report actually said was that there is inadequate research to make conclusions on the efficacy and safety of SOCE therapy,’ commented [Christopher] Doyle. ‘Bill 91’s interpretation of the APA report’s conclusions is inaccurate, and we are calling on the APA to correct those inaccuracies, as it states in their own 2002 Code of Conduct: When its research is misinterpreted or misquoted, it (APA) should take reasonable steps to correct the misinterpretation.'”

“‘House Bill 91 threatens clients’ constitutional rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness and their first amendment rights to see a counselor who helps them resolve unwanted SSA while remaining faithful to their deeply held spiritual beliefs. All parents, children, and families in Maryland deserve the right to pursue their own self-determination and should not be forced to choose between their counselor and their faith values,’ commented Doyle. ‘We are urging Maryland delegates to put the rights of innocent children, who do not have a voice, over this politically motivated legislation.’” …

Junk science once again claims sexual orientation determined by genes

The following excerpts are from the article “Unreleased Xq28 Gene Study Repeats Unproven Theory” by John Ozanich on the Voice of the Voiceless website: “We want to jump on this new junk science article right away because we’ve been down the Xq28 road before and this unreleased study managed to suspiciously get a Valentine’s Day news release without peer review. We’ve excerpted and highlighted the laughable holes for you. The attempt to pass this off as anything new or valid in a Valentine’s Day news release is insipid politics.” … (more…)

Why you should care about banning change therapy

March 11, 2014 By: Tom Coy Category: Gay Politics, Sexual Orientation Change Efforts

February 11, 2014

Joseph Backholm of the Family Policy Institute has articulated 6 reasons to be concerned about the bill in Washington State which seeks to ban sexual orientation change therapy to minors. The reasons apply to all similar bans and are as follows:

“1. Licensed therapists are not currently involved in coercive therapy to change sexual orientation: The Washington State Department of Health has no records of complaints filed against a licensed therapist for coercive therapy intended to change their sexual orientation. If anyone is receiving counseling to change their sexual orientation from a therapist, it is probably because they asked for it. Why would that bother you?” (more…)

Joe Dallas on Christian’s being true to themselves

March 11, 2014 By: Tom Coy Category: Religious Perspective

February 10, 2014

The following excerpts are from the blog “The Writing on My Heart” from Joe Dallas’s website: … “Thirty years ago I decided to come out and be myself, to be true to my real nature, and to listen to my own authentic voice rather than those around me. So I said no to sexual sin, walked away from it, and determined by the grace of God never to practice it again.”

“I know – usually when someone makes an announcement that they’re going to be true to themselves, it’s a build up to something else. But this really was a ‘coming out’, a coming away from behaviors He never intended and which I, as His son, couldn’t continue in. I didn’t have any illusions about temptations. I knew I couldn’t just make them go away by repenting, so in saying ‘no’ to the behaviors I assumed I was also saying ‘yes’ to a lifetime, perhaps, of resisting them. But I also knew that to do as Shakepeare said – To thine own self be true and it must follow, as the night the day, thou canst not then be false to any man – then I’d have to say no to some things, yes to others, and Thy Will Be Done to God. Because that’s who I truly was, had been for years, and couldn’t be anything else. He’d written His laws on my heart. Etched them there, in fact, and ignoring them was as fruitless as ignoring my need for air.” … (more…)

UK Christian Counseling Association caves to worldly pressure

February 5, 2014

The following excerpts are taken from the article “Taking The Liberal Shilling …” by Phelim McIntyre on the Voice of the Voiceless website: “At the start of this year the UK’s Association of Christian Counsellors (ACC) sent out a statement declaring that they do not support any form of therapy to help people overcome unwanted homosexual feelings, what they define as reparative or conversion therapies, and that no member of the ACC could offer them. This is a worrying change of position as, until the statement, the ACC was the only UK body that supported both the client’s right to choose such a therapy and the therapist’s right to offer this type of therapy. Already we have seen a therapist kicked out of the ACC due to their change of position.” (more…)

Mayor of London to be investigated for ex-gay discrimination

March 11, 2014 By: Tom Coy Category: Ex-gay News, Gay Politics

January 27, 2014

The following excerpts are from the article “Significant Victory …” on the Core Issues Trust website: … “In April, just before the 2012 London Mayoral Elections, the Christian charity, Core Issues Trust, was to run its Bus Advertisement Campaign. It, therefore, came at a time when the Conservative Party was courting the LGBT vote in an attempt to ditch what it called the ‘toxic’ history of the Party and seek new supporters. The Government was also concluding the consultation over its controversial policy on same sex marriage.”

“The Bus Advertisement Campaign by homosexual campaign group, Stonewall, stated ‘Some People Are Gay. Get Over It!’. In response, Core Issues Trust, led by Dr Mike Davidson, agreed with the Advertising authorities to run a Bus Campaign saying ‘Not Gay! Ex-Gay, Post-Gay and Proud. Get over it!’.” (more…)
