April 18, 2011

The apparent maneuvering of gay activists has led to a Maryland public school district entertaining statements on homosexuality, one of which attacked “the right of individuals with unwanted same-sex attractions to seek therapy to overcome those attractions.” PFOX heard about the statements and has responded by presenting the school board “with peer-reviewed academic research confirming that some people have changed from homosexual to heterosexual.” The full text of PFOX’s news release follows: Read the rest of this entry →

April 12, 2011

From the PFOX newsletter “California Legislating Morality:” – “I am ________ and I speak to you on behalf of PFOX, Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays & Gays, an organization of families and friends of the ex-gay community. I’m a California native and a proud graduate of UC Berkeley. I also spent 19 years of my life living as a man. My first words were “I’m a boy.” If anyone could say they were born this way, it was me. I thought I had no choice but to get surgery or continue dating women as a man trapped in a girl’s body. I became suicidal not because of lack of understanding from others but because I personally didn’t want to live this way and no one offered me any other choice.” The full text of the PFOX email news release follows: Read the rest of this entry →

PFOX uses Day of Silence to advocate for ex-gay rights

April 11, 2011

The following excerpt is from the PFOX press release. The full text can be found at http://pfox.org/PFOX-Day-Silence-Supports-Ex-Gay-Rights.html.

“Because homosexual activists try to censor the ex-gay point of view, PFOX asks students to distribute ex-gay literature to their friends in support of equality for the ex-gay community,” said Griggs. “The day of silence enables students to distribute ex-gay literature without harassment since opponents are obligated to remain silent that day.” Many of PFOX’s brochures are geared towards youth and explain sexual orientation, tolerance for the ex-gay community, gender identity disorder, anti-bullying policies for both gays and ex-gays, and resources for unwanted same-sex attractions.

March 28, 2011

PFOX issued the following response to Apple stopping Exodus International‘s iPhone application. “Apparently Apple is afraid of real diversity and tolerance,” said Christopher Doyle, former homosexual and PFOX board member. “Individuals with unwanted same-sex attraction deserve support from the same technology that gays benefit from – why are ex-gays being singled out for blatant sexual orientation discrimination?” The full statement from PFOX can be found at http://pfox.org/Apple-Computer-Discriminating-Against-Ex-Gays.html or below. PFOX leader Greg Quinlan calls out HRC for bullying

July 17, 2012 By: Tom Coy Category: Ex-gay News, Gay Politics

March 17, 2011

In the aftermath of the latest battle over gay marriage in Maryland Greg Quinlan has pointed out the hypocrisy of the gay political lobbying organization – the Human Rights Campaign (HRC). “HRC’s bullying against ex-gays contradicts its claim of equality,” said Quinlan. “Why should heterosexuals be fooled by HRC’s false commitment to so-called equality?” Quinlan pointed out that while the HRC advocated for gay marriage on grounds of equality, it called on the World Bank to remove Parents and Friends of Ex-gays and Gays (PFOX) from its list of charities. PFOX board member Christopher Doyle challenges Washington Post

July 17, 2012 By: Tom Coy Category: Ex-gay News, Gay Politics

March 4, 2011

Excerpt from Christopher Doyle’s editorial: “When Greg Quinlan, president of the board of Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays & Gays, identified himself in the Feb. 26 Metro article “Md. House plans to act fast on gay marriage,” you put quotation marks around “ex-gay.” But there were no quotation marks in references to gay members of the House of Delegates. Putting “ex-gay” in quotes suggested that such a sexual orientation is not valid, not recognized or both. But thousands of former homosexuals collectively identify themselves as such.” The full editorial can be found at http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2011/03/04/AR2011030405804.html.

Greg Quinlan testifies before Maryland legislature

July 17, 2012 By: Tom Coy Category: Ex-gay News, Gay Politics

February 26, 2011

Greg Quinlan, president of Parents and Friends of Ex-gays and Gays (PFOX), spoke before the Maryland State Legislature in February of 2011 urging the legislators to stop the effort to legalize same-sex marriage in the state. His argument was both compelling and informative, backed by facts. Following are excerpts from his testimony.

“I am an ex-gay. That means a former homosexual for those of you who don’t understand the term ‘ex-gay.’ … “There is no replicated, scientific study supporting any specific biological etiology for homosexuality.” That’s a quote from the American Psychiatric Association May 2000. Our Ex-Gay Stories
I am a former lesbian, now on fire for God and with a fresh bright future. I was called of God in my 20’s, went to Bible college, got disillusioned with Christianity, walked away, stumbled into the gay lifestyle which at first I thrived in and loved. Read the rest of this entry →
